Egyptian Winger Omar Yasser to Join La Liga’s Deportivo Alaves
I’ve had this hope of playing in La Liga or the English Premier League, since I was a kid."
Omar Yasser’s journey from Cairo’s ZED FC to the ranks of one of Europe’s top flights has been years in the making. It began when the 20-year-old winger was just five, playing on the pitches of Real Madrid’s football academy in Saudi Arabia.
The young Egyptian prospect is now on the doorstep of Europe’s elite leagues as he has signed a contract with La Liga’s Deportivo Alaves.
“I’ve had this hope of playing in La Liga or the English Premier League, since I was a kid,” Yasser tells SceneSports. “I have to continue to develop myself mentally and intellectually well as within my footballing skills. The more mentally prepped you are, the better your game becomes.”
Inspired by the mindset of role models like Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, he chose resilience over doubt, embracing risk in pursuit of a dream that stretches across European football.
After continuing to develop his skillset from a young age, the Egyptian prospect went through four separate trial stints across Europe; at Aston Villa, Grazer AK, Vitória Guimarães, and Racing Santander before finally breaking through. Yasser will officially join the club in July.
